Every year, we are looking for over 5,000 apprentices in 50 different professions who want to grow and improve with us.

We are currently seeking candidates for a 3-year apprenticeship as a locomotive shunter (railway employee in the operations department, specializing in train driving and transportation) (m/f/d) for DB Cargo AG at our location in Koblenz.

The vocational school is located in Lahnstein (near Koblenz).

During your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Drive a diesel locomotive to nearby customers, such as various companies, and pick up goods for transport
  • Shunt freight cars onto the appropriate tracks
  • Assemble trains by coupling and uncoupling individual cars
  • Learn and memorize the rules for safe railway operations and your vehicle
  • Check the functionality of freight trains and secure the cargo
  • Start and end your workday at your regional shunting yard

To be considered for this apprenticeship, you should:

  • Have completed (or will soon complete) your education, be at least 16 years old, and have a passion for technology
  • Enjoy working outdoors
  • Remain calm and organized in challenging situations
  • Take responsibility and make decisions
  • Be reliable and able to handle stress
  • Be willing to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays
