As Patient Services Representative with OrthoArizona, you will get to:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner, responding to routine requests for information.
  • Answer phones in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner, screening, and routing calls as needed, create phone notes in the patient electronic medical record, and/or providing information to patients.
  • Schedule provider appointments correctly and accurately pursuant to provider scheduling protocols. Notify patient of appropriate/required arrival time for appointment (based on type of appointment) and of required items to bring to appointment (insurance cards, photo ID, etc.), ensures proper authorization and / or valid referral documentation has been received and reviews scheduled appointments to include appointment date, time, location, and provider.
  • Register patients to include, obtaining prior authorization, verify insurance eligibility and benefits, scanning patient ID and insurance card, taking patients pictures in EMR, confirming patient demographics and paperwork for accuracy and completion.
  • Obtain prior authorization as needed, for referral orders and documents the authorization status in medical record.
  • Collect patient account balances, coinsurance, and copays, deductibles or estimates selfpay rates; prepares daily batch, deposits, etc.
  • Interact with patients, family members, visitors, and members of the health care team; directs patient questions and/or complaints to appropriate department; keeps patients informed; maintains efficient patient flow during the checkin and checkout process; checks in outside vendors.
  • Schedule patients for followup office visits or procedures, log noshow appointments; assists in scanning.
  • Maintain and organizes lobby area at the end of the day; opening and closing duties.
  • Assist with proper routing of incoming faxes and documents.
  • Maintain medical records.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Excellent customer / patient service.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
  • Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Schedule flexibility to include extended hours coverage Monday through Saturday.
