YOUR FUTURE TEAM


As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state's environmental laws.

This position is a member of our Central Texas region.


HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Assist with inspections and/or evaluating existing dams to determine safety and review inspection reports regarding existing dams. Make recommendations to owners and engineers and develop letters with appropriate recommendations for corrections
  • Oversee inspections of dams under construction and/or modification to determine if construction meets the approved plans and engineering practices; develop letters and make appropriate recommendations for correction
  • Complete hydrologic, hydraulic, and structural studies for proposed and existing dams
  • Review and assist with evaluating construction plans and specifications for the construction and/or modification of dams; ensure plans and specifications meet engineering standards and TCEQ rules
  • Review and evaluate engineering reports submitted by owner's engineers. Evaluate emergency action plans for compliance with statutes and rules regarding dam safety and engineering standards
  • Interact with dam owners and their engineers to complete engineering assessments of dams
  • Assist with maintaining the Texas Inventory of Dams database files

Qualifications

KEY QUALFIICATIONS

  • EngineerinTraining Certificate
  • Degree in Civil or Agricultural Engineering

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

General Engineering Specialist I**:
A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university Eng Specialist II:

General Engineering Specialist II:
A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, plus one year of full-time engineering experience.


OR
State of Texas Engineer-in-Training (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification, plus six months of full-time engineering experience.


OR
A master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university.


General Engineering Specialist III:
A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, plus two years of full-time engineering experience.

An Engineer-in-training (E.I.T.) certificate will substitute for six months of the required experience.


A master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.


A doctorate in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of the required experience.
