Overall Description:
This role is an exciting opportunity to grow our nascent planned giving program.
This is the only position at World Food Program USA dedicated to planned giving and will require extensive collaboration with the Individual Philanthropy and Development Support teams.
The Deputy Director will be responsible for developing and implementing programs to increase level of planned gifts now and in the future, both in terms of number of donors and increased revenue.
Responsibilities include identifying, cultivating and soliciting planned giving prospects; directing education and communication efforts; and serving as in-house planned giving technical specialist to colleagues and volunteers.

This position will play a crucial role in aiding the organization in their mission of ending global hunger
Develop annual plans to increase planned giving donors and gifts, including education and communication efforts, individual donor strategies, and integrated efforts with individual philanthropy fundraisers & partners
Manage the Zero Hunger Legacy Society with ongoing cultivation and stewardship
Identify, personally cultivate (letters, phone calls and face-to-face visits) and solicit planned giving prospects to secure planned gift commitments; respond to inquiries
Work collaboratively with other philanthropy officers to develop planned giving opportunities for donors in their portfolios
Develop and implement annual education and communications plans and materials including, but not limited to:
Develop calendar for multichannel donor education and communication efforts
Produce education/communication materials with vendor & in-house staff
Coordinate mailings with print vendors and mail house
Update web content
Review and manage estate gifts; coordinate with executors, lawyers, and financial institutions to receive gifts through donors estates and ensure accurate booking of revenue
Serve as WFP USA technical specialist for noncash gifts such as securities and Qualified Charitable Distributions
Manage relationship, contract, and strategy with planned giving marketing vendor
Draft annual budget and track program expenses
Collaborate with colleagues at the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) as appropriate
Maintain Salesforce records and tracking of planned gifts and inquiries
Become knowledgeable about WFP USAs program areas and priorities
Undertake special projects and other responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
Commitment to a donor-centric framework that honors the donor journey from first to ultimate gift, and the many ways donors engage with and support WFP USA
Passion for our shared vision of creating a world with zero hunger 6-8 years of experience in fundraising, with focus on planned giving
Will consider candidates with experience in tax, estate or financial planning, with a focus on client relationships
In-depth knowledge of current tax and estate planning laws, gift annuities, bequests, charitable trusts, and other planned gift instruments
Strong understanding of education and communication techniques and donor lifecycle management
Working knowledge of Windows (Outlook, Word, etc.) and Salesforce or similar software packages
Excellent writing skills with experience in writing proposals and marketing materials
Excellent verbal communication and presenting skills, as well as strong ability to convey technical information to donors and colleagues
Self-starter who has a vision and skillset to grow a nascent program
Organized, creative professional who can work independently and as a team player
Willingness to travel locally and nationally for donor and prospect visits
Proven track record of success in identifying, cultivating and securing planned gifts is required
