The Pipeline Safety Manager will lead a team responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of an effective pipeline safety program to ensure pipeline design, construction and operation is conducted in a safe and compliant manner.

This role will establish the procedures and processes to help ensure that the physical risk associated with pipeline safety is handled.

Maintaining collaborative and positive partner relationships and providing outstanding customer service are keys to success in this role

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Cultivates relationships with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and other pipeline safety regulators including state agencies
  • Conducts internal audits to identify compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) driven procedures; coordinates and facilitates inspections and visits from state and federal regulators
  • Monitors, reviews and interprets rule making activity; defines and documents our interpretation of pipeline safety laws and jurisdictional determinations
  • Establishes and documents enterprise procedures and processes to address physical risk associated with pipeline safety
  • Establishes and tracks performance metrics, identifies and advances performance improvement initiatives
  • Leads, provides support and participates in incident investigations
  • Represents our organization on various committees and working teams
  • Coordinates workforce planning and career development activities for direct employees
  • Develops expense plan and forecasts; conducts regular cost analysis
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; a minimum six (6) years' experience in natural gas or liquids pipeline with emphasis in operations or design and minimum of five (5) years' supervisory/management experience

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Solid understanding of PHMSA regulations
