Research Assistant (d/m/w) - Salary Group 13 TV-L Berlin Universities:

The Department of "Intelligent Systems" under the direction of Prof. Dr. Marc Toussaint is seeking a research assistant for a cooperation project with Amazon Robotics.

The project focuses on the application of optimization, learning, and robotics methods for planning highly efficient object manipulation by robots, and offers a very interesting research environment in collaboration with Amazon Robotics.

The position also offers the opportunity for a PhD in this field. The department conducts research and teaches in the areas of AI and robotics.

The research group develops methods that combine AI planning, machine learning, and optimization to solve fundamental problems in robotics and AI.

The department is part of the Excellence Cluster Science of Intelligence and the ELLIS network.


Job Description:


  • Participation in research for the project "Meta-Optimization" in cooperation with Amazon Robotics.
  • Supervision of student assistants and final theses related to the project topic.

Expected Qualifications:


  • Successfully completed university degree (Master's, Diploma or equivalent) in computer science or a similar technical field.
  • Indepth knowledge in the areas of robotics motion planning, robotics manipulation, and optimization methods.
  • Programming experience in the context of the mentioned methods.
  • Excellent English skills.
