The Scrum Master's primary responsibility is the management of small to large scale projects by coordinating the efforts of individual development teams and/or cross functional teams.

This position will manage projects from original concept through final implementation, working closely with the development lead, team member, and product owners to deliver valuable solutions to Markel associates.

The Scrum Master will help lead the development team to proactively identify risks and issues that could challenge project delivery and will ensure those risks and issues are either mitigated or resolved.

The Scrum Master will also establish the appropriate governance in line with Markel standards and track benefits throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities- Ensures that realistic project plans are constructed and subsequently maintained.- Ensures regular and accurate communication to project team, business stakeholders, business analysts, and product owners.- Adopts appropriate project management methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.- Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for initiatives.- Identifies, assesses, and manages risk to the success of the project.- Ensures that project deliverables are completed within timescale, and resource budgets, and are signed off.- Responsible for negotiations with stakeholders and product owners to manage competing priorities and conflicts.- Highlights issues and risks identified during testing to stakeholders.- Implements planning activities, including managing the process of integrating new work with complementary strategic, operational and change management processes.- Works across teams to agree and implement any modifications to work and manages impacts on projects.


Position Requirements- 2-5 years of project and resource management experience- Demonstrated leadership skills- Ability to influence and motivate without direct authority- Ability to build relationships with peers, customers, and other project leaders- Strong customer focus on delivery of value- Ability to manage multiple priorities- Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills- Excellent organizational, analytical, and planning skills- Ability to identify and manage risks and issues- Negotiating skills within a context of conflicting interests- Extensive knowledge of agile and project management methodology- Ability to communicate technical information in a business friendly manner- Experience with Microsoft Suite of Products - Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint- Extensive knowledge in resource and change management.

Education/Experience- College degree in Business or Information Technology field- Agile certifications or similar certifications (preferred)- Insurance industry experience (preferred)
