The Catholic Parish of St.

Josef Essen encompasses the districts of Bedingrade, Dellwig, Frintrop, Gerschede, and Schönebeck, with currently 5 locations for pastoral activities and approximately 16,000 Catholics.

The parish includes four daycare facilities operated and managed by the KiTa Zweckverband, as well as two cemeteries. The parish development process makes change tangible and offers new and challenging tasks.


We are currently seeking a part-time (70% employment) Administrative Director (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible.
The employer is the Catholic Parish of St. Josef Essen.


Your responsibilities -

  • Financial management (budget preparation and monitoring, financial and liquidity planning, accounting in cooperation with the service association of the diocese)
  • Property and real estate management
  • Personnel management in cooperation with the church council and the Episcopal General Vicariate
  • Personnel and disciplinary responsibility as the superior for nonpastoral staff in the parish
  • Active collaboration with the committees and groups of the parish
  • Active participation in the implementation of the parish development process

We expect -

  • Bachelor's or FH degree in business administration or a comparable qualification
  • A personality who actively manages the parish administration in close coordination with the parish leadership and represents the parish, its goals, and concerns to the outside world
  • Professional experience in the abovementioned tasks
  • Leadership experience, teamwork skills, confident and approachable demeanor
