Job DescriptionSummary:

To perform the inspection, receiving, drying, processing, distribution and storage of all grain commodities at all company grain receiving and handling locations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Other duties may be assignedResponsible for operating all areas of grain & feed receiving, storage and handling in a safe mannerResponsible for the proper drying of all grain receivedResponsible for maintaining the condition of all stored grain inventoriesResponsible for the proper blending, cleaning, and conditioning of grainResponsible for verifying incoming grain quality, both by checking scale tickets and by visual inspectionResponsible for performing scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance and repair for all grain handling and storage equipment as required.

Responsible for performing and assisting with maintenance and repair projects in other areas as scheduled.

Responsible for housekeeping and quality assurance in all grain receiving and feed manufacturing handling areasResponsible for providing back up for the ingredient receiving areas as scheduledBins are checked weekly during storage season and reports on grain conditions are recordedGrain is dried to the proper moisture without over-drying, and then cooled properly to prevent spoilageGrain is maintained in good condition without deterioration at all locations.

Aeration is managed to maintain grain qualityHousekeeping is scheduled and accomplished to prevent grain deterioration and prevent rodent problems.


Grain spills are cleaned up promptlyAssistance is provided in other areas such as repairs, ingredient receiving, warehousing and distributionPriority is given to supplying the feed mill with high quality grain - the best available.

Moisture, test weight, odor and appearance are monitored daily.

Problem grain is reported immediately so that measures can be taken to assure feed quality and prevent economic loss to the companyGrain receiving, grading, contracting, and pricing policies are adhered to and supported in dealing with our customersCustomers are treated with courtesy and respect.

Rapid, courteous service for loading and unloading is a priority.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment The characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
