Job Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the general cleanliness of our facilities, including manufacturing & warehouse operations and office and common areas, following proper cleaning processes to ensure a clean, neat and presentable work environment for all employees and guests of the organization.

This position is integral to maintaining compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and upholding guidelines as regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).


Standard Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday


What You'll Do:


  • Perform general labor cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, washing, and stocking supplies, as outlined in the Master Cleaning Schedule
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms and gowning areas, including scrubbing toilets, mopping floors, wiping sinks, mirrors, paper dispensers, trash cans, and vanity surfaces
  • Clean employee cafeteria and workspaces, including offices, lab areas, production/warehouse, gowning areas, building lobbies, and other common areas.
  • Remove trash and recyclables from all areas daily
  • Maintain outside areas around building and parking lot (spreading ice melting compounds on sidewalks as needed, maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of outside building perimeter, etc. weather permitting)
  • Immediately report safety, sanitation, and fire hazards to manager, maintenance and/or staff person in charge of facilities/safety
  • Complete other indoor and outdoor general cleaning tasks as needed
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning chemicals and proper chemical storage.
  • Clean and maintain janitorial equipment and tools, including powered rider and push floor scrubbers
  • Complete and maintain all required cleaning documents, logs, and records following Good Documentation Practices (GDPs)
  • Complete special projects as needed
  • Crosstrain to serve as backup for completing highest priority tasks in the absence of other Custodians
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 2+ years of previous custodial / janitorial work experience in a food/beverage or regulated manufacturing facility required
  • Knowledge of cleaning & sanitation chemicals and their proper use
  • Experience using personal protective equipment
  • Comfortable using cleaningrelated powered equipment
  • Must be able to work independently and under mínimal supervision while staying on task and focused
  • Great team player willing to help complete daily tasks as needed
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; talk or hear; reach above shoulders; use hands to finger, handle, grasp, pinch or touch objects, controls, tools or equipment; kneel, crouch and use foot/feet to operate machinery
  • Occasionally required to lift, carry, move, push or pull, product or floor cleaning equipment, up to 50 pounds; bend at the waist; climb or balance
