Inter-cultural advisors of the German Armed Forces advise military decision-makers on the societal, cultural, social, ethnic, religious, and historical circumstances and conditions that are relevant for assessing the security situation and planning and conducting operations.

They identify, develop, maintain, and coordinate personal networks with key individuals in the deployment area.

Additionally, they contribute to the specialized pre-deployment training for contingent leaders and selected personnel, as well as for deployment contingents.

Inter-cultural advisors of the German Armed Forces engage in direct communication during deployments.

During regular operations, they develop specialized contributions for situational assessments and participate in the training and development of IEB personnel.

Possible tasks during deployment:

Advise and accompany military decisionmakers in their communication and interaction with the local population and key individuals in the deployment area.
Identify and evaluate local, ethnic, religious, political, historical, and other sociocultural structures and events in the deployment country/region.
Establish and maintain a reliable network of key individuals who can be used for information gathering (IEB as a sensor) and, if necessary, for eliteinfluencing information gathering (IE
