Description

The CalSTRS Technology Services Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Information Technology Specialist II in the IT Support Services Unit within the IT Infrastructure & Operations Division.

  • The Technology Services Branch is committed to providing quality and timely technical support and services to the organization. Technology Services provides resources to successfully meet the technical demands of the organization.
  • The IT Infrastructure and Operations Division manages the core technology infrastructure needed to support the CalSTRS business. This infrastructure includes client technology; network, servers, and storage infrastructure; and technology disaster recovery.
The IT Infrastructure and Operations Division also provides technology related operational support for CalSTRS and is comprised of the following team:

Client Technology Infrastructure, Audiovisual Services, Client Technology Services, Technology Disaster Recovery, Network Infrastructure, Service Desk and System & Security Administration.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with business users and vendors as a team lead.
  • Advanced business and technical analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead a highly complex system implementation project from start to finish.
  • Experience with Waterfall, Agile, and System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff and management.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management processes (i.e., incident, problem, change, etc.).


Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.

Telework Information:We offer a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions with staff working on-site at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 2-3 days per week.
