The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, located in Braunschweig, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to find new approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research focuses on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system, and the development of effective drugs and vaccines.

The Department of Data Center, led by Dr. Joachim Metge, provides a wide range of services and projects to support both research and administration, making a fundamental contribution to the success of infection research at HZI. In a complex IT environment at multiple locations, 22 employees and six apprentices face daily challenges and master them with competence and team spirit in a friendly environment.
