Job description

The Employee Communications Editorial & Content Strategy Lead is a business-savvy creative who relies on their expertise in content strategy, execution, and leadership to inspire HP's global employees through audience-centric storytelling.

The role is a good fit for a mid-career communications professional who has experience with overseeing a production team, is a natural storyteller, and feels passionate about developing content that reaches the right audience at the right time.

The Editorial & Content Strategy Lead will play a pivotal role at the heart of the Employee Communications team, which is part of the Corporate Affairs function: creating and owning an editorial strategy based around and integrated with our Big Campaigns and Big Moments, and aligned with our external content.

Designed with a global lens, the strategy will be built around the audiences we need to reach; the channels through which we will reach them; and the multimedia content formats that will effectively cut through.

Employee Communications helps HP's 50,000 employees in more than 60 countries internalize our company's vision, mission, strategy, and business priorities.

Our communications inspire employees to connect with and contribute to the HP Way; feel pride in the products they help create and deliver to our customers; and be an advocate for what HP stands for and the difference it makes in the world.

We aim to shape, validate, and deliver integrated experiences that activate employees as our boldest brand leaders and ambassadors—ultimately driving business success.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Create and maintain an integrated editorial strategy and activation calendar for Employee Comms, with defined storytelling pillars aligned with major Corporate Affairs quarterly themes (via the Big Campaigns and Big Moments). This will be a global plan, informed by local/market input, with the goal of ALL employees seeing themselves reflected in the output.
  • Create and own a channels strategy for Employee Comms, to ensure our content reaches a diverse, segmented, and global audience where they are.
  • Inspire the evolution of our content, with a focus on more snackable, sharable, audio and visual content, and less 'textonly'.
  • Serve as managing editor of HP's intranet portal, working daily to shape the editorial calendar, vet story ideas, delegate editing and writing tasks, partner with the Digital and Creative Services team on production and publication, and serve as quality control expert for the channel.
  • Partner with Employee Communications Content Strategists on key campaigns and transformation initiatives to establish content strategies that deliver on program goals.
  • Take lead on reviewing and publishing sensitive and/or embargoed internal communications designed for protected audiences.
  • Consult with and coach employee communicators from functional teams on improving employee experience through engaging narratives and content.
