The Institute of Resource Ecology conducts research to protect humans and the environment from hazards posed by pollutants generated through technical processes for energy and resource extraction.

The Department of Thermodynamics of Actinides is seeking a doctoral candidate (m/f/d) in Geochemistry of Actinides for a three-year position starting on March 1, 2023.

Job Description:


  • Qualitative and quantitative investigation of the influence of competitive metal cations, such as those released from minerals, on the sorption of actinides and fission products onto mineral phases relevant for nuclear waste disposal
  • Gaining a molecularlevel understanding through conventional radioanalytical techniques (liquid scintillation counting, alpha spectrometry) and ICP-MS, as well as spectroscopic methods such as fluorescence and vibrational spectroscopy
  • Analysis of samples using surface Xray diffraction

Expected Qualifications:


  • Completed university degree in chemistry, geochemistry, or a related field
