Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $18.00 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.


Location:
This position is located in INDOT's LaGrange Area.


A Day in the Life:


  • Operates basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways and rightsofway.
  • Moves and loads supplies and materials.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs traffic signs, route markers, and pavement markings.
  • Performs emergency response activities such as: cleanup, traffic control, lane closures, placement of signs, and erecting barricades.
  • Performs equipment maintenance such as: minor repairs, preventative maintenance, refueling, and pretrip inspections.
  • Performs miscellaneous labor tasks.

What You'll Need for Success:


  • Valid high school diploma or GED preferred; or one (1) year of work experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods of time.

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
