    Job Path is dedicated to supporting autistic individuals and those with developmental disabilities in making decisions about their lives and playing active roles in their communities. We are currently seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and creative individuals to offer personalized support in various community settings across Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx.

    Our mission at Job Path's Community Connections program is to ensure that individuals with developmental disabilities are integrated into society as equal members. We take a person-centered approach to facilitate relationships between individuals and their communities. As a Direct Support Professional in the Community Connections program, you will work with a diverse group of individuals with different interests and support needs.

    Responsibilities include:

    Direct Support

    • Providing personalized support to help individuals connect with their communities and become active community members
    • Assisting in forming connections with community organizations through engagement with family and community members
    • Supporting individuals in volunteer roles, classes, social events, and other community activities
    • Aiding individuals in achieving personal and professional goals
    • Boosting self-esteem through collaborative activities
    • Introducing new experiences and opportunities
    • Empowering individuals to make choices in various aspects of their lives and learn decision-making skills
    • Assisting individuals in social settings to build positive relationships and confidence through appropriate interactions
    • Respecting individual preferences to ensure they lead the life they desire

    Team Collaboration

    • Ensuring clear, honest communication with supervisors
    • Providing support, respect, and feedback to team members
    • Participating in staff meetings and contributing professionally
    • Sharing ideas, knowledge, and questions with the team

    Health & Safety

    • Being competent in handling medical needs such as seizures, allergies, and other health concerns
    • Providing physical support respectfully, like assisting individuals with eating or using a wheelchair

    Documentation/Communication

    • Completing case notes, monthly summaries, and timesheets in a timely manner through online platforms
    • Adhering to required documentation outlined by supervisors

    To excel in this role, candidates must be adaptable and flexible to accommodate the dynamic lives of the individuals we support. Some individuals may require physical assistance, including the use of wheelchairs. Candidates should be willing to provide physical support when needed to ensure equal opportunities for all in the Community Connections program.

    Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, fluency in written and spoken English. Previous experience is beneficial but not mandatory. We seek candidates who enjoy engaging with people and are considerate of individuals with disabilities, including those who are autistic. Basic computer skills are essential, including responding to emails, submitting timesheets electronically, and documenting information in health record systems. This role is within the Community Connections department and involves one-on-one interaction.

    Rate of Pay: $18.65 per hour

    Benefits: Work/Life Assistance Program (EAP), option to contribute to pre-tax commuter and medical FSA plans, 403b retirement plan with employer match after two years, Health, dental, and enhanced short term disability insurance for employees averaging 28 hours per week after six months.
