Goodyear is seeking a driven, highly motivated, safety and people-focused manufacturing leader to provide senior-level management and leadership to the Houston chemical plant.

This position works with Houston plant leadership to create annual strategic plans regarding manufacturing, safety, environmental, process safety management (PSM) and quality.

He/She will ensure the development/implementation of succession plans and knowledge transfer efforts. He/She will provide oversight to implement corrective actions to all organizational issues.


This person will work with Houston Leadership teams to develop a fixed cost annual operating plan (AOP), 5-year capital plans and plant reliability plans.

This role will ensure all AOP goals are met by managing production and controlling plant operating costs.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Manufacturing Director acts as a liaison for Houston to set Chemical division direction and ensure the plant is taking action to meet those goals/directives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain associate accountability and promote that every associate should participate and support safety, environmental and hygiene systems/training to produce Houston products safely and in compliance with work instructions, procedures, policies, laws and regulations.
  • Implement and support management systems to minimize environmental impacts of operations and products.
  • Implement plans to meet and improve first pass prime production.
  • Meet monthly production tickets for each product line (within +/ 1.0%) and instill a sense of urgency in meeting Houston plant objectives.
  • Actively pursue permanent solutions to customer complaints to minimize customer dissatisfaction and reduce the number of complaints.
  • Serve as a key member of the Manufacturing Leadership Team.
  • Interact with Chemical Operations and corporate leadership, as necessary.
  • Lead/Manage Goodyear Houston managers (including direct/indirect reports).
  • Focus on resource optimization for Houston.
  • Review/Approve capital budgets before they are submitted to corporate.
  • Ensure expenditures (compared against approved budgets) are monitored by the Accounting/Engineering departments.
  • Represent Goodyear in Houston community groups/agencies.
  • Attend/Hold weekly operational/leadership team and monthly safety, environmental, quality and PSM meetings.

Direct Team: 6 Managers across Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Technology, Environmental, Safety and HR.

Internal Contacts:
Plant Managers, Supply Chain, Commercial, corporate leadership groups.

  • External: relevant regulatory and governancebased agencies such as OHSA, EPA etc. Community Groups as it relates to our social and community responsibility.

KEY EXPERIENCES DESIRED

  • 10+ years manufacturing experience in a complex plant environment; ideally with experience chemical production or adjacent process safety intensive environments.
  • Excellent people and team leadership capability; experienced in building high performing teams, developing talent for the organization as evidenced by advancement and success of team members. Able to inspire and drive change in the organization.
  • Experienced as a plant leader, able to manage a multidisciplinary team and foster a highperformance culture.
  • Strong track record in changing the operational excellence/continuous improvement culture within an organization. In possession of excellent LEAN/operational excellence credentials.
  • Demonstrated, measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, production and service. (Safety and Quality Champion).
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, experienced in managing a P&L, operating budgets with a deep understanding of the financial levers of plant performance.
  • Experienced working in a large multinational company, working with a mix of functions, corporate processes and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Industrial Management, Engineering or equivalent field of study required. Master's degree in business or technical discipline would be advantageous.
