Core Responsibilities

  • The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for supervising Jr.
Sr.

Designers and/or contractors in the preparation of gas layout designs, non-pipeline alternative projects, estimates, project plans, surveys and environmental compliance when required.


  • The Engineering Supervisor may also be expected to supervise other areas of Gas Engineering.
  • The Supervisor will work closely with the Gas Conversions group, Energy Services, Non
  • Pipeline Solutions group, Work Coordination and external agencies.
  • While supporting Interference, the Supervisor will oversee and ensure necessary actions are taken to address encroachments; small diameter cast iron mains that are undermined or are in the angle of repose due to construction activity.
  • While supporting the Westchester Gas Public Improvement group, the Supervisor will assist coordination with external agencies and oversee Designers working on Gas interference projects across various municipalities in Westchester County.
  • While supporting the System Reliability Group, the Supervisor will oversee Designers performing Gas main replacement and nonpipeline alternative projects under the Distribution Integrity Capital programs.
  • The Supervisor will work closely with field engineers to ensure that Gas Operations executes the planned work, and will make field visits as needed to assist Gas Construction and Construction Management.
  • The Supervisor will ensure implementation of company environmental, health and safety programs for employees whose work are directed, and ensure that safe work practices are followed in accordance with Company procedures.
  • The Supervisor will also represent Gas Engineering on various committees and collaborate with outside various organizations and governmental agencies.
  • Perform other related tasks & assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering and 2 years Gas Engineering or Operations Experience

Relevant Work Experience

  • 2 years Gas Engineering or Operations experience Required
  • Working knowledge of mapping system products Required
  • AutoCAD, and project/contract management experience Preferred
  • Familiarity with the PSC requirements Preferred
  • Prior supervisory or managerial experience Preferred

Skills & Ability

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc. and
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and
  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Must sit or stand to answer a phone for entire shift
  • Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift
  • Must be able to read small print and symbols.

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to drive within Company service territory as needed.
  • Must be able to work occasional extended hours due to Organizational needs.
