Project Description:
The field of philosophy encompasses various areas such as moral philosophy, value theory, and epistemology, all of which are concerned with normative questions. These questions revolve around what is considered good or bad, right or wrong, and justified or unjustified. The project, REASONS F1RST, aims to explore the Reasons-First Approach, which suggests that normativity can be understood in terms of reasons. This project will involve multidisciplinary discussions and analyses of normative phenomena, including values, obligations, rights, and the justification of beliefs and emotions. The project also seeks to address challenges to this approach and compare it to other competing theories. The main objectives of this project are to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the Reasons-First Approach and to provide detailed explanations of normative phenomena in terms of reasons.
Your Tasks:
Conduct independent research within the project and related areas (50%)
Teach 4 hours in practical philosophy in all BA/MA programs in philosophy (in English or German) (30%)
Actively participate in research group meetings and events,
