GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

A supervisor holds a key role in the efficient planning, production, and management of a manufacturing plant. He/she supervises the team at the site while ensuring that quality standards and production standards are achieved.

To be effective in this role, overseeing and managing the cross training of associates, scheduling attainment of products, and resolving problems as they arise are critical.

CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures.
  • Plan, implement and control the production schedule; review and adjust the schedule where needed.
  • Work with production manager and human resources to effectively staff, manage and promote the operations team.
  • Establish the material requirements planning.
  • Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification, and procurement in conjunction with plant, maintenance, and engineering support staff.
  • Develop and implement standard procedures for production operations.
  • Certify that standard operating procedures are being followed and that training programs are effective.
  • Set product quality standards and effectively monitor those standards; analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems.
  • Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives.
  • Determine and implement updates to the production process focused on continuous improvement (quality improvements, waste reductions, efficiency gains, etc....)
  • Prepare and maintain production reports.
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution, and management.
  • Must have forklift experience: Sitdown propane and Roll Clamp.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

A high level of knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques is required. Knowledge in the converting, slitting, and manufacturing process of papers and films is desired. Minimum 5 years' experience in leading and managing a manufacturing team is required. Knowledge of quality systems and standards, and health and safety standards/compliance needed. Background in continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or lean manufacturing is preferred.

Mechanical knowledge of machines, tools and TPM systems is desirable, as well as experience in engineering and technology principles and practices.

The ability to manage time and organization of multiple priorities and projects is required. The ability to think critically, problem solve efficiently, make decisions, and communicate effectively are all essential. Attention to detail and strong time management skills are key. Experience in negotiating effective outcomes for team members and the business is important, including conflict management.

Computer proficiency in the company required software and Microsoft Office (outlook, word, excel) is needed. Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent. Experience in Leu of education.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise, and effective manner with the customers, account representatives, company representatives, management, staff, and the public in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings.

Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Use office equipment such as a personal computer, copier, and facsimile machines. Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise, and effective manner. Sit or stand for extended time periods. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate office equipment. Tolerate inclement weather, including excessive heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents.

Must have the ability to travel domestically, by plane, operate a motor vehicle, maintain a valid state motor vehicle driver's license, and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.

Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and overnight travel required. The travel required for this position is up to 10%.
