    We are seeking dedicated and diligent Registered Nurses (RN) to join the medical team at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson, MD.

    As a Registered Nurse in this position, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care and execute tasks under the guidance of the Health Service Administrator on-site.

    Working in correctional healthcare allows nurses to utilize their hands-on assessment and clinical nursing abilities daily.

    Nurses play a key role in handling healthcare crises, conducting physical health evaluations, initial screenings, medication administration, sick call appointments, and managing chronic care clinics. They will also support physicians, psychiatrists, and dentists. Correctional healthcare presents challenges similar to those encountered in an emergency room or clinic, making each day both demanding and fulfilling.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance of nursing practices with established standards
    • Take vital signs, perform thorough assessments, and document findings for all patients in the medical or mental health units
    • Execute treatment plans to enhance, maintain, and reinstate patient well-being
    • Keep accurate records of controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps following state and federal regulations
    • Conduct sick calls for inmate/patients, offer provisional diagnoses, and treat minor illnesses and injuries
    • Disseminate relevant information to appropriate personnel efficiently
    • Observe, report, and document symptoms, reactions, and progress of inmate/patients while contributing to nursing care plans
    • Provide health counseling to inmates/patients
    • Deliver additional services and fulfill assignments designated by the Nurse Supervisor, Health Services Administrator, head nurse, or corporate staff
