The mix makes it: Plastics are the materials of the future - the plastics and rubber technologist (formerly process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology) is a profession with a future. If you decide to pursue this training, you will become a highly sought-after specialist in plastic processing.


Extrusion: A large part of your training time will be spent in extrusion. There, film is produced on almost 20-meter-high systems. Here, you will first be taught how to handle production equipment (i.e. machines) and tools.

The production of plastic films is a complex process and will be a focus during this training phase:
You will learn how to handle raw materials and auxiliary materials (i.e. granules and colors or other material additives to enhance the films) as well as mixing and conveying the film raw materials. Only experienced professionals can meet the high quality and technical requirements.


Metalworking workshop: Here, you will learn the basic skills of metalworking and plastic processing. You will also gain insights into the electrical workshop. To give you an idea of what happens to "your films", you will also visit the printing press and plastic finishing department.
