Schmitt Engineering is a medium-sized company based in Erlangen. With many years of engineering expertise in various industries, we are a partner to the industry.

Our activities cover the entire process chain from planning and project planning to development and construction, as well as production, assembly, and commissioning.


Your tasks will include:

  • Designing and creating test cases according to product requirements
  • Designing, setting up, and maintaining test lab equipment
  • Defining, maintaining, and executing test suites
  • Conducting error corrections and root cause analyses
  • Creating test and configuration scripts
  • Writing technical documents such as setup descriptions, guidelines, test plans, and reports
  • Conducting device connections (RJ45, RS485, RS232, etc.) and connection tests

Your profile should include:

  • Completed degree in engineering or a comparable qualification
  • Professional experience in the field of IoT and/or hardware
  • Experience in commissioning, configuring, and testing PLCs
  • Knowledge of fieldbus protocols, especially Modbus, DNP3, IEC61850
  • Knowledge of IoT gateways and Linuxbased embedded operating systems (RTOS, Raspberry Pi OS, Apache NuttX, etc.)
  • Knowledge of singleboard computers (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Arduino UNO R3, etc.)
  • Knowledge of C, Python, and Bash, as well as sensors (e.g. Pt100, MPU9250, MQ5)
