Your tasks

As a medical assistant, you are the first point of contact for patients in Crested Butte. This includes welcoming patients, collecting relevant patient data, and providing information about the organization of treatment processes. Daily ambulance management also includes phone calls with patients, as well as with health insurance companies, nursing services, or medical facilities in order to coordinate appointments, take prescription orders, or pass on information to treating doctors. An important part of your job is learning medical documentation and billing for medical services. You will learn how to take blood samples and administer injections and medications to patients. In addition, you will complete cross-departmental internships in the areas of diagnostics (ECG, EEG, laboratory) and pharmacy as part of your training. Ambulance management, such as practice organization and administration (orders or mail), will also be part of your daily routine. Of course, you will also participate in department and team meetings.
