Western and Central Africa (W AFR) Region
Western and Central Africa is a region with diverse cultures, beliefs, languages, and lifestyles - marked by contrasts of stability and conflict; affluence and poverty.
Home to about half a billion people, it encompasses 22 countries stretching from the westernmost point of Africa across the equator and partly along the Atlantic Ocean to the Republic of Congo in the South.
The sub-region is rich in resources and brimming of opportunities.It made impressive progress in regional cooperation and includes two monetary unions - the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) that cover 13 countries between them.
The Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice
The World Bank Group's Finance, Competitiveness & Innovation Global Practice (FCI) combines expertise in the financial sector with expertise in private sector development to foster private sector-led growth and help create markets in client countries.

Within countries, FCI works with governments to create an enabling environment where financial stability, access to finance and risk management provide a foundation to crowd-in private sector investment, create capital markets, and accelerate equitable growth.

The Practice focuses on six thematic areas:
- Financial Stability & Integrity (ensuring countries' financial systems are stable, sound and transparent)

- Firm Capabilities & Innovation (creating the enabling environment for businesses to be competitive, efficient and cuttingedge)
- Long-Term Finance (helping countries deepen and diversify their financial sectors, facilitating long term finance through capital markets, and strengthening the role of institutional investors)
- Climate & Risk Management (supporting countries to become more resilient and able to mitigate the impact of natural disasters combining financial and insurance tools)
Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Program Assistant, you will report to the Practice Manager of EAWF1 and work closely with the Operations Officer for the team, as well as with TTLs.
responsibilities will be the following:
Budget and Portfolio Monitoring:
Support the Practice Manager and Operations Officer to keep track of preparation, implementation and delivery of the unit's work program, including monitoring project deliverables and milestones, and to follow-up on any outliers.
Support TTLs in preparing task planning tools (TPTs) for projects.
- Support the Practice Manager and Operations Officer to monitor expenditure (by activity code), including for bank budget and trust funds, and against FY plans and targets.
- Prepare standard system generated and customized reports such as Portfolio, Trust Fund and ASA reports, with guidance from the Operations Officer as needed.
Operational and Administrative Support
- Provide operational support on a diverse range of activities related to the stages of the project cycle, for selected projects, including in some cases as a full team member.
- Support the Operations Officer in providing quality enhancement function for projectrelated documents, adhering to departmental, VPU, and institutional guidelines.
- Support clearance procedures and finalization of documents.
- Use SAP system to monitor, and update on project achievements
- Coordinate the scheduling of meetings including logístical and documentation arrangements
Maintain up-to-date distribution lists
- Support the Practice Manager in supervising annual WPA allocation and taking proactive action as needed
- Lead the process for closing of commitments, in collaboration with TTLs, RM and other colleagues at the end of the fiscal year
