SUMMARY

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate the necessary activities associated with shipping assigned products to our customers.
  • Schedule rail car, barge and ship shipments to customers and offsite storage facilities.
  • Prepare, issue and review all shipping documents for compliance by Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad Association standards.
  • Arrange and tender orders to motor carriers as required; address and resolve issues.
  • Manage and verify daily railcar and marine shipments; address and resolve issues.
  • Includes all SAP order (delivery) processing requirements for all modes of transportation to generate customer invoices and Certificates of Analysis for products shipped.
  • Coordinate the necessary activities associated with scheduling deliveries for feedstock.
  • Interact with feedstock supplier to adjust delivery volumes, and availability.
  • Monitor feedstock inventories, report changes, track receipts and deliveries at all storage sites.
  • Forecast feedstock consumption based upon planned run rates, production forecasts.
  • Monitor styrene inventories, report changes, track receipts and deliveries at all storage sites.
  • Provide corporate customer service representatives with timely customer shipment and product inventory information.
  • Work with plant personnel to develop and track customer complaint responses as well as ISO continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Pay transportation invoices and perform administrative duties.
  • Issue first approval on all feedstock and transportation invoices.
  • Research invoicing, credit memos and BOLs for shipment discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly feedstock and shipment closing statements.
  • Assist Marketing, customers, and vendors as needed.
  • Use the plant's GPS tracking system to track rail cars and prepare rail car reports. Physically check the plant railcar inventory as necessary.
  • Prepare and issue Supply and distribution report to Corporate and various plant personnel.
  • Participate in all necessary audits as required.
  • Maintain required ISO documents and produce for review during plant internal and periodic surveillance ISO audits.
  • Act as backup for the other logistics technician and the styrene plant production clerk during illness, vacation, or other absences.
  • Understand all the job duties of the logistics technician and be able to fully train another on the job.
  • Work with supervisor to maintain DOT qualifications.

  • Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of others. Promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental issues or incidents to management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
  • High School graduate. Two to four years education at Business College, university or correspondence school which may be waived with acceptable level of progressive experience in transportation logistics.
  • 3 year's experience in chemical plant traffic/distribution preferred
  • Training and communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.

Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.

May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
