We are currently seeking a student for a Master's thesis focused on AI-driven modeling of tool path generation for a numerical control.

This position is located at our International Innovation Centre in Aachen, Germany.


Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Familiarizing yourself with the Fanuc control system and researching the current state of tool path generation and virtual NC simulation.
  • Creating a NC program to generate training data by executing characteristic movements and measuring the resulting trajectory on a real fiveaxis machine tool.
  • Developing and implementing machine learning structures to predict the NC path and generate feed trajectories based on NC code or CL files.
  • Training the machine learning models with collected data and evaluating their accuracy.
To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Advanced programming skills in Python, C#, C++, GCode, and CAM.
  • Interest in machine learning.
  • A creative and motivated mindset, willing to explore new approaches.
  • Enthusiasm and knowledge in machine tools and numerical controls (experience with Fanuc is preferred).
