AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies offers paid summer internships to students enrolled in full time undergraduate or graduate degree programs.
As an AmeriHealth Caritas intern, you will learn about the health care industry, our Medicaid and Medicare plans, pharmacy benefits management and behavioral health care — and how we are working to improve access to health care for all Americans.
You will also join us in building healthy communities through active service projects that support our mission.
Candidates must be enrolled in college degree program and have completed the first year of college (rising Sophomore) by the start of the summer internship program.

Background:
The health of our country's maternal health is in crisis, despite the national attention and the multitude of efforts concentrated in this one issue spanning clinicians, public health experts, and politicians.
From a national view, the CDC reports that the maternal mortality rate for 2021 was 32.9 deaths per 100,000 live births, compared with a rate of 23.8 deaths per 100,000 live births just one year prior.
In 2021, the maternal mortality rate for non-Hispanic Black (subsequently, Black) women was 69.9 deaths per 100,000 live births; 2.6 times the rate for non-Hispanic White (subsequently, White) women.
According to DC's Maternal Mortality Review.Project:
Improving pre-pregnancy health to reduce disparities in maternal health outcomes for Black birthing people in the District of Columbia.
Identify impactable differences based on the Ward of the District in which the enrollee lives that support the design of tailored interventions.
Education/Experience:
Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year degree
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Strong attention to detail, experience with quality assurance, proofreading, and strong organizational skills required
Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with various teams in the organization
A viable candidate may have been identified.
