The High Pressure Copolymers (HPC) Product R&D is hiring for an R&D Technician to join our team and to be located at the Dow Texas Innovation Center in Lake Jackson, TX.

About you and this role - What you will do in this role

You would be expected to have a strong safety record, technical focus, analytical acumen, and growth mindset to support new development areas and customer innovation projects.

You are also expected to balance your workload across customer requests and laboratory improvement initiatives and laboratory maintenance. You would need to deliver effective and timely communication of results to researchers, scientists and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities - Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role

Provide technical support to asphalt lab and delivery testing results for timesensitive customer requests or field trial needs.
Routinely generate binder formulations containing bitumen (asphalt), catalyst, and polymers.
Operate laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation including, but not limited to mixers and high shear mixers, ovens, high and lowtemperature rheometers, viscometers, pressurized aging equipment, specialized tensile measurement, and others.
Ability to learn and build skills with new equipment such as smallscale compounding for melt blending polymers.
Use computer software to plan, analyze, and evaluate laboratory experiments and data utilizing Excel, Nautilus LIMS, Word, PowerPoint, ELN and available research software.
Develop proficiency in all routine laboratory methods critical for innovation projects and customer technical support (crosstraining; backup); commitment to working safely and building a strong safety culture.
Communicate results through oral and written research reports, ELN, data presentations, and direct interaction with chemists, engineers, and leadership.

Qualifications - Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)

A minimum of associate degree in STEM related field.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Must be able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

Lift, push, and pull up to 55 pounds.
Frequently bend, reach, and lift.
Working in an industrial laboratory and chemical manufacturing site.
