Please tell us about your interest in working for KIPP KIPP Public School's KIPP Forward team is looking for a Postsecondary Success Advisor to work closely with KIPP NorCal alumni to prepare them for college, career and beyond. KIPP is entering its fourth year of sending behavioral science-backed nudge text messages to students using an Artificial Intelligence Bot to respond to participants and answer frequently asked questions. This role is focused on using this nudge texting technology to support one-on-one advising for a caseload of college-enrolled alumni. The Postsecondary Success Advisor will write and send mass text messages to alumni - applying behavioral science principles to their nudges and using data to personalize messages. The Advisor will monitor alumni conversations with the AI Bot and follow-up with alumni who could benefit from additional 1:1 advising. The Advisor will also research college and career development opportunities and produce new content and resources (such as videos, graphics, or guides) to share via the nudge platform. They will report to theAssociate Director of Postsecondary and Career Success and work out of the KIPP Northern California Regional Support Office (Oakland). This role requires the candidate to be on site at least two days a week. The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep passion for social justice and educational equity for all children, and has a background in college advising, project management skills, as well as outstanding written and verbal communication skills. They must have a demonstrated interest in serving low-income students and are dedicated to doing whatever it takes to support our students to and through college. Preferred Qualifications Experience & Education:
    • Passion for KIPP's mission and values
    • 2+ years of full-time related experience
    • Experience producing content for social media (such a videos, graphics, resources)
    • Experience managing projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
    • Experience using or managing mass communication platforms, such as mass texting systems, newsletter platforms, or other content management systems
    • Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, youth development or have equivalent experience
    • Ability to speak Spanish or Vietnamese is desirable

    • College advising knowledge including: the community college transfer process, course registration at an institution of higher education, the financial aid application process [FAFSA/CADAA], retention programs at UC and CSU institutions, etc.
    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Alumni Support
    • Manage a caseload of approximately 300 1st and 2nd year college students, leveraging nudge texting as the primary platform for outreach and caseload management
    • Support 3rd and 4th year college students who reach out via nudge for support, as needed
    • Guide unenrolled 1st and 2nd year alumni to receive re-enrollment support that helps them start their journey in a postsecondary program
    • Provide advising and coaching services focused on college persistence, the transfer process, college completion, and career readiness based on alumni needs, connecting them to additional resources across the team when necessary
    • Support alumni in understanding/maintaining/improving college financial aid packages
    • Research/assist alumni with placement in summer opportunities/programs/internships
    • Provide alumni with critical information and resources to support their college persistence and completion via newsletters, social media, or other sources
    • Provide advising and coaching services based on alumni needs, connecting them to additional resources across the team when necessary
    Technical Support/Writing Regional Nudges
    • Produce new content to include with nudge text messages or social media, such as videos, graphics or guides.
    • Create and manage full year scope and sequence; making changes as needed based on regional communication needs
    • Identify gaps in program model and provide creative solutions to Managers and Directors
    • Act as a subject matter expert in nudge technology and train teams on how nudge platform and engagement works
    • Act as the first point of contact for nudge related questions and support for Advisors; training and coaching when necessary
    • Write and schedule regional campaigns on a monthly basis
    • Create and execute virtual programing based on alumni needs on a semester/quarter bases
    Tracking Data
    • Track and analyze student data [contact information, financial aid, internships, etc.] using the Alumni Services database
    • Support KIPP Forward data collection and entry
    • Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to proactively track and report on program outcomes, identify areas of success as needed to respond to those areas that need improvement
    Cross-team collaboration and Operations Support
    • Collaborate with Postsecondary Success Team, Directors of College and Career Counseling, and College and Career Seminar teachers to plan for and execute Strong Transition to Mainstay platform year over year
    • Collect and create student testimonials to support with planning and facilitation of a Strong Transition experience for 12th grade students at all of our KIPP High Schools in preparation for their postsecondary program
    • Collaborate with Associate Directors (ADs) to lead goal setting process for caseload enrollment
    • Supporting ADs by ensuring high-quality program design and implementation that promotes an impactful alumni experience as the program grows
    • Collaborate with Postsecondary Success Team in order to create appropriate content for students such as regional nudges
    • Lead the navigation of alumni complex support needs or program challenges, communicating with Director and AD when appropriate
    • Support and collaborate with Postsecondary and Career Success Team with event planning logistics, resource sharing, and recruitment for events
    KIPP Forward Participation
    • Attend and participate in virtual KIPP Foundation Communities of Practice and trainings
    • Attend and participate in all KIPP Forward team meetings, including Postsecondary Team Meetings and Persistence Professional Development and Regional Support Office team meetings
    • Participate in check ins with KIPP Foundation members and regional KIPP Forward team in order to ensure each both teams needs are being represented through planned messaging and upcoming programing
    • Respond to emails, calls and texts from staff within 24 hours during work week
    • Maintain current student information in the Alumni Database [Salesforce, KIPP Galaxy]
    • Support with opt-in campaigns, enabling over 80% of students to sign up for nudge before high school graduation
    • Other duties as assigned
    *The role could include more direct caseload support depending on the makeup and structure of the team. Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands Physical: Ability to navigate office and school campuses, and hold meetings in different spaces. Traditionally, much of the day involves sitting. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment 1-20 lbs. Mental: Ability to manage stress of normal work standards, decision making, and deadlines. Critical thinking and mental focus necessary to analyze problems and work with interruptions. Environmental: Office/school environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions. Access to reliable transportation for occasional travel. Classification This is a full-time, exempt position based on a full year calendar cycle, based out of our Regional Support Office with frequent travel to schools and districts. The KIPP Regional Support Office is currently operating in a hybrid fashion. Most positions can expect to work in person 2-3 days per week and remotely the remaining days, subject to change based on the needs of the role.
