Description:


Essential Functions:


Economic Mobility Program Management (60%)


The Strategic Initiatives team incubates emerging programs and projects for the organization, including an expanding portfolio of over $500,000 in economic mobility pilot programs.

The Strategic Initiatives Manager is responsible for managing the implementation and evaluation of these programs, including the following functions:


  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to design effective, tailored programming for college students and workforce development participants facing food insecurity
  • Partner with internal experts to design evaluation strategy and assess program impact
  • Produce quarterly updates to executive leadership on program progress
  • Serve as primary point of contact for partner organizations
  • Advise new partner organizations on best practices for design and implementation
  • Maintain records of activities for use in fundraising and marketing materials
  • Track spending against restricted grants for economic mobility programs
  • Manage daytoday program logistics implementation, and troubleshooting, coordinating with other teams as necessary
  • Opportunity for direct supervision

Other Strategic Projects (30%)

  • At the direction of CAFB leadership, manage large, crossdepartment projects; research and analyze viability of new initiatives; and initiatives and direct their alignment with CAFB's strategic priorities
  • Support select special projects led by the Senior Director, such as the development of CAFB's Annual Operating Plan, the publication of CAFB's annual report on the landscape of food insecurity, or organizational key performance indicators
  • Strengthen CAFB's position as a thought leader by researching trends and best practices in issues surrounding food insecurity as well as emerging initiatives for the food bank; present findings and provide recommendations to senior leadership
  • Develop reports and other communication materials to convey key insights from CAFB research projects

Requirements:


  • At least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least 2 years' experience with project consulting and/or management
  • Ability to form strong partnerships internally and externally, maximizing on mutual interests
  • Advanced ability to gather and analyze data and publicly available information to inform decisionmaking
  • Ability to engage with top leaders in the organization (C suite, senior leaders, and board)
  • Ability to prioritize, troubleshoot, make informed decisions, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to operate independently, take initiative and think proactively
  • Ability to identify overlapping interests and workstreams and bring separate teams together to combine efforts
  • Sensitivity working with diverse populations
  • A strong commitment to racial equity
  • A strong commitment to CAFB's mission
  • Able to navigate the DC metro area by car and/or metro, travel in underserved communities

Other Skills/Abilities:


  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, in addition to excellent listening skills
  • Ability to selfdirect and complete tasks independently
  • Readiness to collaborate with a variety of internal and external partners
  • Previous experience working in food security preferred; familiarity with DCarea food security landscape a bonus
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work professionally with a diverse staff and constituent base

Physical Requirements:


  • Physical activities involve sitting for 80% of the work day.
  • Occasionally lifts office supplies up to 20 pounds.
  • Rarely, ability to travel to sites as needed throughout the metropolitan area.

Work Environment:


  • Normal business office, with frequent tight deadlines.

  • Normal working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday
  • Friday
