Senior Mechanical/ Marine Engineer providing direct support to Navy T-Ship Design Manager (SDM) and responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, development, and construction of propulsion and machinery systems and interfaces with shipboard and mission systems for the T-Ship acquisition programs.
More About the Role:
Development of ship propulsion and control systems specifications including but not limited to diesel-electric propulsion systems, propellers, rudder, thrusters, and their interface with dynamic positioning systems.
Development of marine auxiliary and piping systems, review and analyzing preliminary and functional design documentation and development of ship system specifications.
Review and analysis of mechanical and electrical propulsion systems, and auxiliary/ piping systems for technical data packages developed to support design and construction of T-Ships.
Development of machinery arrangements, weight assessments, propulsion integration and auxiliary systems.You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Minimum of years' experience in ship machinery system design, particularly with the use of integrated electric plants
Conduct trade studies to determine suitable configuration for prime movers, Generators, propulsion and thruster drive trains, gears, motors, power converters, and other marine machinery.
Conduct FMEA analysis and procedural validations to determine suitable configuration and compliance with propulsion motors, power converters, and thrusters and all other DPS redundant componentsDetailed knowledge of U.S. Regulatory Body standards and ability to develop and prepare ship machinery documents for compliance with ABS Rules.
Experience with Military Sealift Command (MSC) marine engineering practices.
Experience in leadership role of an engineering team
BS Mechanical or Marine Engineering degree
