Facilitator for Japanese High School Students


The mission of GPI US is to empower today's youth to thrive in a global world through educational study abroad programs.

Our top-quality programs challenge, inspire and educate our students to better prepare them for an increasingly globalized world. Many of our programs explore current issues, leadership, cross-cultural understanding, and problem-solving, all while practicing communicating in English. We aim to maximize students' experiences through thought-provoking seminars, engaging classes, excursions, conversations with peers, and practical discussions.


GPI US is seeking a Facilitator who is interested in leading our GPI US sessions with Japanese high school students visiting the San Francisco Bay Area.

Interest in global education, Japanese culture, and experience living abroad is a plus.


Duties Include:


  • Assisting in the design and development of curricula to improve student communication skills, criticalthinking skills, problemsolving skills, and cultural and global awareness.
  • Preparing all necessary materials and lesson plans, and attending any preprogram orientation meetings.
  • Leading classroom management and guiding Discussion Leaders through small group activities (the majority of the class will be conducted in small groups with university students serving as Discussion Leaders).
  • Facilitating discussions, engaging students, and taking direction from the GPI US Head Coordinator when applicable.
  • Being able to revise lesson plans on the spot depending on the students' ability and time constraints.

Requirements:


  • Interest in education, international cultures, global issues, travel, and/or Japan.
  • Experience teaching international high school students (preferred).
  • Fluent English speaking and writing abilities (No Japanese language skill required).
  • Commitment to all program dates/times (session lengths may vary from 24 hours).
  • Ability to confidently lead and facilitate sessions.
  • Flexibility and being able to make quick, educated decisions.

Compensation:
$35/hour including preparation
