ROLE SUMMARY


The Manager of Governance will report to the Director, of Governance and will work with both internal stakeholders at school sites and the Home Office and external stakeholders, including Alliance Governing Board Members and School Site Advisory Councils.

In this highly visible role, the Manager of Governance will work with stakeholders to ensure compliance with the Brown Act and other state and local transparency laws and foster authentic stakeholder engagement in the governance of all Alliance College-Ready Public Schools.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Driving Scholar Outcomes through Governance and Compliance_
  • In partnership with the Director of Governance, the Manager of Governance will develop and drive clear and compelling vision, goals, and strategy for school board governance across multiple schools that will foster authentic stakeholder engagement, including parents, teachers, scholars, principals, other schoolbased staff, and the larger school community.
  • Manage and execute the logistics of the Alliance Governing Board, while effectively engaging stakeholders and gathering authentic input, including collecting, maintaining, and reporting key Board documents; drafting Board resolutions and minutes; managing crossfunctional team members and relationships across the Home Office and within schools to curate materials for Board review.
  • Provide onsite, tiered support to schoolbased staff to improve governance, implementation of School Site Advisory Councils (SSAC), and other structures that will empower scholars, family, and staff voices.
  • Provide support as needed with some compliance initiatives, including Federal Program Monitoring, Local Control and Accountability Plans, Charter Renewal, or Oversight.
  • Project Management and Data Analysis & Reporting_
  • Manage projects across multiple teams while successfully generating buyin from stakeholders and communicating effectively.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and report data from across the organization with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Identify trends in data to construct meaningful analyses and clearly articulate strong, written narratives of both success and improvement.
  • Support the Director of Compliance with annual data reporting to the State and Federal governments.
  • Communications and Customer Service_
  • Ability to multitask and respond effectively to unexpected requests from external parties such as our authorizer (LAUSD) and the State and Federal government.
  • Manage multiple work streams through layers and build strong relationships with school leaders and other home office and schoolbased colleagues.


  • Continuous Process Improvement_

  • Translate legal requirements into effective systems and processes that can be implemented at scale.
  • View department workflows critically to identify opportunities to improve processes and create structures to ensure the efficient and continued equitable completion of work.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE- Previous experience working with public schools in the governance of school boards.- Commitment to the Alliance's core beliefs and educational philosophy.- Ability to work effectively in a multi-layered organization and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including educators, school leaders, other school-based colleagues, home office staff, and families.- Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to manage relationships with senior leaders and executives both internal and external to Alliance.- Willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to the success of a dynamic team committed to a new future for urban education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- At least 3 years of professional work experience and a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; OR- At least 5 years of professional work experience and a HS Diploma or equivalent (e.g. G.E.D.).- Fluent bilingual English-Spanish ability is preferred.- Work schedule includes occasional evenings and w
