Job Summary:
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Day Program Without Walls program, you will be responsible for providing personalized care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
You will assist program participants in accessing community resources, engaging in recreational activities, fostering social connections, and promoting independence and skill development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in various community settings.
- Assist program participants with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Facilitate community outings and recreational activities based on individual interests and goals.
- Implement individualized support plans and behavior management strategies.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes independence, choice, and empowerment.
- Document participant progress, incidents, and interventions accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including supervisors, therapists, and community partners, to ensure coordinated care and services.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of developmental disabilities.
- Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); college degree in a related field (preferred).
- Understanding of person-centered planning, positive behavior support, and trauma-informed care principles.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic attitude toward individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
- Valid NYS driver's license.
- Ability to pass background checks and required screenings.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals with mobility challenges.
- Stamina to engage in physical activities and outings for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Job Types:

Pay:
$18.00 per hour
