Summary:

Diagnoses and treats a variety of diseases and injuries in general practice.

As a staff physician you will have the authority and responsibility to contribute to and maintain an efficient, revenue-generating, dynamic medical department.

Duties include but are not limited to the provision of full-spectrum patient care. Patient visits are approximately 30 minutes per intake and 15 minutes per follow-up appointment. Required patient load of 22 per day, 88 per week. Responsible for maintaining high standards of professionalism, efficiency, personal communication, discretion, and independent judgment. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to perform all job-related activities as outlined below.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Primary Functions:_
  • Elicits and records information about a patient's medical history.
  • Examines patient to determine general physical condition.
  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
  • Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs.
  • Assures patient's vaccination status is up to date.
  • Focuses on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Assures that all routine disease screening is complete for each patient who is seen in order to comply with various local, state and federal audits.
  • Reports birth, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures for dispensing medications and complies with the various prescription medication formularies.
  • Performs minor office procedures as qualified.
  • Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance or disability coverage.
  • Follows up and appropriately acts on all ordered studies and referrals in a timely manner.
  • Promptly reports all suspected cases of child abuse, elder abuse, domestic violence, or homicidal ideation to the appropriate authorities.
  • Must have all documentation of a patient visit complete within 48 hours of the patient's visit.
  • Must adhere to all privacy regulations as outlined in the policies and procedures and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Must adhere to all OSHA and sharps safety policies and procedures and immediately report any sharps injury should one occur.
  • Must complete all continuing Medical Education hours as required by the California State Medical Board and if applicable, the employee's respective specialty board.
  • Should notify the Medical Director of schedule changes at least one month in advance.
  • Participates in afterhours call rotation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Medical Director or designee.

Qualifications:


_Minimum Qualifications:
_


  • Doctorate degree (M.D. or D.O.)
  • Current California Medical License
  • Current DEA registration.
  • If not Board Certified/Board Eligible.
  • Current CPR
  • Minimum of (7) years of general practice experience in FQHC facility.

Preferred:


  • Experience serving a multinational, multicultural population.
  • Experience with Indian Health Clinics.

Flexibility:


  • Available for all shifts and, when required, able to work evenings and weekends.
