"The German Railway is one of the most diverse employers in Germany. Every year, we are looking for over 5,000 apprentices in 50 different professions who want to grow and improve with us.

Starting on August 1st, 2024, we are looking for you to join our 3-year apprenticeship program as a locomotive shunter (railway employee in the operations department, specializing in locomotive driving and transportation) (m/f/d) for DB Cargo AG at our location in Senftenberg. The vocational school is located in Halle, and you will also attend railway-specific seminars at DB Training in Leipzig.
What to expect during your apprenticeship:
  • Shunting of freight cars with a diesel locomotive onto the appropriate tracks
  • Assembling complete trains by coupling and uncoupling individual cars
  • Occasionally driving your locomotive to nearby companies to pick up goods for transportation
  • Becoming familiar with the rules for safe railway operations and your vehicle
  • Inspecting the functionality of freight trains and securing the cargo are also part of your responsibilities
  • You will start and end your workday at your regional shunting yard
