Maximus is currently hiring for Billing Specialists to join our Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) team.
This is a
hybrid position that requires you to work
both onsite in our Houston, TX offices as well as
remotely.
The Billing Specialist position is responsible for a variety of duties, as assigned by Manager, which include routine billing payment posting, and problem-solving for various types of facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process invoices for payment from diagnostic facilities according to Medicare rates.
- Analyze accounts and use proper CPT codes and correct rates;
- Send out the denial letters to facilities for procedures, codes, and dates of service not ordered, or to request more information if needed;
- Ensure all doctors and claims status calls are answered in a professional manner.
- Process transportation expense claims for Veterans;
- Process VBA mileage/expense reimbursements checks for providers and facilities;
- Process, investigate, and settle claims by Veterans that have been billed directly;
- Attend meetings as required;
- Process checks by stamping signature on checks, and verifying printed checks batch the EOB; and
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Self
- Familiarity with CPT codes for claim charges;
- Advanced verbal and interpersonal skills;
- Advanced written communication skills, to include excellent grammar;
- Advanced reading and comprehension abilities;
- Advanced analytical skills and detail
- Advanced multi
- Advanced organizational and prioritization skills, with strong ability to meet strict deadlines with mínimal supervision;
- Proficient typing skills; and
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, general internet research, and beginner knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Must live in or near Houston, TX
- Ability to work both remotely and onsite in our Houston, TX office required
- Ability to commit to a 1month training period, fully onsite in the Houston office, with a schedule of 8:00am4:30pm CT Monday-Friday with no absences required

- Preferred Windows or Mac (no Chromebooks)
- OS for Windows
- Windows 10 or newer
- OS for Mac
- Big Sur ; Catalina ; MacOS (up to 12.5) or newer
- Connectivity to the internet via either Wi-Fi or Category 5 or 6 ethernet patch cable to the home router
- USB plug and play wired headset with a microphone and noise suppression
- Private work area and adequate power source
- A second monitor is highly recommended for most positions
- Must currently and permanently reside in the Continental US
Home Office Requirements Using Maximus-Provided Equipment:
- Connectivity to the internet via either Wi-Fi or Category 5 or 6 ethernet patch cable to the home router
- Private work area and adequate power source
- Must currently and permanently reside in the Continental US
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma required; Previous Billing experience preferred.
