Duties:


  • Receive and process requests for the release of information.
  • Validate medical information from clinical and outpatient records.
  • Maintain a log on all records requested from other facilities.
  • Return clinical and outpatient records.
  • Ensure checks received from requestors are collected and sent into the Third Party Collections on a daily basis.
  • Assist patients in obtaining medical records or information from other outside hospitals and clinics.
  • Coordinate the release of any PHI containing classified information, psychiatric information, and other sensitive information with the department or respective/applicable Department maintaining over sight of the information.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 2 security investigation or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office software such as (Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point) to create and manipulate documents/spreadsheets; composing and processing correspondence for medical record request; and retrieving medical information from Electronic Health Records Systems such as (AHLTA, HAIMS, Essentris, and CHCS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in federal service (GS-05)

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
