    DIRECTOR CATEGORY MANAGEMENT - CLINICAL RESEARCH

    SUMMARY:

    Primary responsibility is to manage the strategic sourcing activities for Clinical Research while aligning with long-term organizational goals. This newly created role will play a vital role in optimizing the procurement process, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that the Clinical Research Organization obtains goods and services of the highest quality at the best possible value. We expect effective category management for Clinical Research will contributes significantly to the organization's financial health and operational success.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Developing and implementing a comprehensive sourcing strategy for all Clinical Research services. This involves identifying potential suppliers, conducting market research, and evaluating supplier capabilities and performance to establish a robust supply chain.
    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Clinical Research suppliers. Negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing to achieve favorable agreements that meet the organization's needs and objectives.
    • Continuously seeking cost-saving opportunities through negotiations, volume discounts, and alternative sourcing options without compromising on quality or service levels.
    • Ensuring that all purchased goods or services meet the required quality standards. Implementing supplier performance metrics and monitoring supplier performance regularly.
    • Assessing and mitigating risks associated with the procurement process, including supply chain disruptions, geopolitical risks, and supplier financial stability.
    • Overseeing the drafting, execution, and management of contracts with suppliers. Ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
    • Staying informed about Clinical Research market trends, innovations, and regulatory changes that may impact the procurement category. Using this knowledge to make informed decisions and stay ahead of the competition.
    • Collaborating with internal stakeholders, such as finance, operations, and legal teams, to align Clinical Development procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
    • Using data and analytics to drive decision-making, identify cost-saving opportunities, and measure procurement performance.
    • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies throughout the procurement process.
    • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and enhance the overall procurement function.
    • Promoting supplier diversity and sustainable procurement practices to support corporate social responsibility goals.
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, supply chain management, procurement, finance, or a related discipline and advance degrees or professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management.
    • 15 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management
    • Strong background in procurement category management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and cost optimization is essential.
    • Experience in managing Clinical Research categories is a requirement. Understanding the Pharmaceutical industry, market dynamics, and the unique challenges associated with the Clinical Development categories is crucial for effective decision-making.
    • Demonstrated experience in building and managing relationships with CROs, conducting supplier evaluations, and negotiating contracts.
    • Experience in collaborating with various internal stakeholders, such as finance, IT, operations, legal, and quality control, to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
    • Strong leadership abilities and experience in leading cross-functional teams, managing direct reports, and overseeing Clinical Research procurement projects.
    • Proficiency in data analysis, market research, and interpreting procurement-related metrics and KPIs to make informed decisions.
    • Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with vendors, internal teams, and presenting procurement strategies to senior management.
    • Experience in identifying and mitigating risks associated with Clinical Research procurement activities, including supply chain disruptions and vendor-related risks.
    • The ability to develop and execute a comprehensive Clinical Research procurement strategy aligned with the organization's overall business objectives.
    • Demonstrated experience in implementing process improvements and best practices in procurement operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
