    Job Description:


    The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) at Massasoit Community College is a key leadership position, reporting to the President, responsible for fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and belonging within the college community.

    The CDO will lead efforts to create an environment that values and celebrates diversity, ensuring that students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds feel welcomed and supported.

    There are high expectations that the CDO will exemplify a culture of collaboration and partnering, as a clear and transparent communicator and uniter, across all campuses.


    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive diversity, equity, and belonging (DEI) strategic plan aligned with the college's mission and goals.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate DEI initiatives into all aspects of the college's operations.
    • The CDO is responsible for coordinating the College's recognition events honoring diverse cultural, ethnic and identity groups for internal and external audiences.
    • Foster relationships with community organizations, minority-serving institutions, and local stakeholders to enhance diversity initiatives and community partnerships.
    • The CDO must act as a 'chief connector' by quickly reaching out to all constituencies across the various campus locations and in the community to build solid and mutually beneficial relationships that support positive momentum to support the President and his leadership agenda.
    • Represent the college in relevant community events, promoting diversity and belonging.
    • Design and deliver training programs on cultural competency, implicit bias, and other relevant topics for faculty, staff, and students.
    • Serve as a resource for addressing diversity-related incidents and concerns.
    • Work with relevant stakeholders to develop response strategies and foster a supportive environment.
    • The CDO must be a seasoned and enthusiastic champion of DEI work in the context of higher education. The CDO must have the capacity to manage complex issues, be committed to anti-racism at the highest level, and be equipped to contribute at both a strategic and operational level.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on diversity initiatives, progress, and challenges to senior leadership and the college community.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of diversity programs and make adjustments as needed.

    Requirements:

    • Master's degree from an accredited institution in human resources management, social justice, sociology, public administration or a related field.
    • Five years of successful work experience in dealing with diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging programs, with a working knowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations concerning such programs.
    • Excellent communication skills, with positive management, leadership and demonstrated collaboration abilities as well as the ability to clearly communicate concepts, ideas, and information and influence a broad range of audiences internally and externally.
    • Demonstrated and proven ability to initiate and lead large-scale programs and projects.
    • Ability to gather and analyze data and to draw sound conclusions from the data.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    • Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the culture of shared governance, tenure and promotion, campus politics and the needs of students, faculty, staff and administration with respect to diversity.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Five years of successful experience specifically in the area of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging at a regionally accredited higher education institution.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of laws, rules and regulations and best practices, including those concerning race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, age, veteran status, personal experience, and social, economic, spiritual and cultural distinctions and concerns and how these intersect with policies.
    • Possess an existing network of professionals engaged in the field of diversity and equity in higher education.

    Additional Information:

    Position Status:
    Non-Unit Professional

    Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday

    Salary:
    $107,717 - $139,901 Annually based upon education and experience

    Worksite:
    Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
