"Regulatory Affairs Cell Line Banking and Customer Support"

at the Leibniz Institute DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH, located in Braunschweig, Germany, in the Human and Animal Cell Lines department.

The Human and Animal Cell Lines department is responsible for managing the open cell line collection at DSMZ. This includes characterizing and quality controlling cell lines, as well as distributing them to researchers worldwide.

The collection currently has over 900 established cell lines, with a focus on more than 700 human cell lines, particularly those related to hematologic malignancies.

In addition to these routine activities, the department also conducts research in collaboration with the collection.

Cell cultures are important models for studying human diseases, including cancer, and have been used in basic and preclinical research for many years.

Access to quality-controlled models is crucial for the international research community, and this is provided by biological resource centers like DSMZ.

Constantly acquiring state-of-the-art cell models is essential for a resource center, and this requires communication with researchers who establish these models and depositors of cell material.

The banking and provision of cell line models must be conducted in a regulated process, which requires expertise in various legal and regulatory frameworks.

The department's goal is to support and guide depositors and customers through this process. Additionally, all relevant data on the cell lines are collected and stored
