Residential Counselors - All shifts

  • Annual Salary$33,280 $37,440
  • Annual Salary for Bilingual Residential Counselors$34,944 $39,31
  • Increase of $1.00 per hour after six months

    1st, 2nd & 3rd shifts available_

Responsibilities and duties for SMHFC Residential Counselor:

  • Act as a therapeutic agent, using counseling and parenting skills, role modeling, structuring and coordinating the daily routine for each child.
  • Responsible for providing care, treatment and supervision for each child in the residential unit he/she is assigned to.
  • Participate in mealtimes; note food intake, table manners, stimulate appropriate table conversations while acting as a role model.
  • Utilize agency approved behavioral support techniques and discipline as appropriate.
  • Be available for assistance to other counselors and staff in other treatment disciplines when necessary.
  • Record all pertinent information in the daily log, communication log and on the incident forms at the end of each shift. Communicate this information to oncoming staff before leaving your shift. Check interoffice communications daily.

Qualifications for Residential Counselor:


  • College Education desirable. Experience working with children/youth in a residential or similar environment required.
