Staff Educator Opportunity -

Pembroke Hospital is a 120-bed acute care, inpatient behavioral health facility located south of Boston, in Pembroke, MA. Situated on 26 acres, we offer inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment to teens, adults and older adults, and our services are designed to assess, stabilize, and treat patients by addressing their primary symptoms and problems. This is a full time, 40 hour per week position.


Responsibilities/Duties:

Assists the Nurse educator in:

  • Coordinates orientation activities/programs and regular and special inservice training sessions for staff including issues related to current practice, new policies and procedures and annual updates as necessary
  • Identifies follow up action needed to remedy deficiencies identified during the orientation process
  • Evaluates and revises programs to meet changing needs of staff at least yearly
  • Participates in department and organization committees and task forces; consults to nursing staff on clinical education issues
  • Maintains relationship with clinical, administrative, and support services to deliver education/training
  • Incorporates adult learning principles in teaching
  • Maintains expertise in the content of the teaching assignment
  • Maintains records and reports of education activities

Qualifications:

Requirements:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree required

Area of concentration:
Psychology, Sociology, Education or other behavioral health field.

  • Experience:
  • Two years of related experience in education, behavioral health direct care or a combination of the two; preferrable in an inpatient environment
  • Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology and treatment procedures
  • Skills:
  • Basic teaching and training skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Organizational and time management
  • Crisis intervention
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Facilitation and/or cofacilitating process
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of clinical and support team members
