The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics (MIMG) is ranked among the top 10 microbiology departments in the country.

We are proud of our internationally recognized faculty—whose research funding, in total, is among the highest in the nation; and whose research spans the disciplines of structural biology, cell biology, bacterial physiology, bacterial development and gene regulation, bacterial pathogenesis, virology and viral pathogenesis, molecular and cellular parasitology, immunology, molecular genetics, stem cell biology, cancer biology, and computational biology.

Salary & Compensation

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • Lab Experience One year of lab experience (preferred)
  • 1. Demonstrated skill in molecular biology and cell biology procedure. (required)
  • 2. Demonstrated skill in maintaining growth of cell culture. (required)
  • 3. Demonstrated skill in preparation of various stock solutions and sterilization of solutions by steam autoclave or by disposable filter units. (required)
  • 4. Demonstrated skill in proper use and maintenance of lab equipment (e.g.electrophoresis equipment and centrifuges). (required)
  • 5. Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures associated with the handling and disposal of chemicals and chemical waste, as well as biohazards and biohazardous waste. (required)
  • 6. Skill in analyzing deep sequencing data with standard analysis tools. Skill in following written laboratory protocols. (required)
  • 7. Ability to organize ordering information and lab protocols. Communication skill(written, oral) to maintain a detailed record of research activities in a laboratory notebook, using clear and concise laboratory notes and data records. (required)
  • 8. Skill in working independently and following through on assignments. Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner with deadlines, fluctuating workloads, or last minute changes. (required)
  • 9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working conditions and relationships with other members. (required)
  • 10. Ability to move or lift 25 lbs. (required)
