Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Perform complex (journey-level) data entry work for Motor Carrier Bureau. Work involves entering, verifying, researching, correcting or retrieving data; maintaining files and documentation. Work under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

The following Military Occupational Specialty codes are generally applicable to this position.

Applicants must fully complete the summary of experience to determine if minimum qualifications are met.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Prepare, verify, and distribute correspondence, reports, forms, and documents from oral or written instructions.
  • Perform data entry of safety inspections, crash reports, and State Commercial Motor Vehicle Drug and Alcohol records.
  • Maintain paper and soft-copy documents for reference and archival purposes; electronically images a variety of documents.
  • Review various documents to ensure accuracy and legibility of information.
  • Obtain, sort, arrange and/or compile a variety of forms, citations, inspection reports and other documents.
  • Compile and disseminate statistical data and information.
  • Maintain records of daily production and report production results.
  • Respond to routine inquiries regarding commercial vehicle safety program activities.
  • Greet visitors and direct them to appropriate employees or officials.
  • Answer incoming Motor Carrier Bureau phone calls and refer callers to appropriate MCB personnel or take messages for distribution as needed.
  • Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:


Education - High School Diploma/equivalent.


Experience - Minimum of six (6) months' experience operating a computer entry device. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.


Regulatory Knowledge - Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.


Technology - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint) and be able to learn new software/systems.


Interpersonal Skills - Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.
