About the Position
As a Park Custodian, you will perform various tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment in our County Parks.

Maricopa County is home to one of the largest regional park systems in the nation - comprised of approximately 120,042 acres of parkland and 872-miles of trails, with individual parks ranging from several thousand to 30,000 acres.
In addition to the parkland, the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department oversees the Maricopa Trail, a 315-mile trail system that encircles the valley and links all regional parks together.

Job Contributions- Ensure the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of park facilities and work with appropriate cleaning supplies/chemicals using proper personal protective equipment- Collect trash, rake, weeds, and prune small trees and shrubs; remove graffiti, paint interior, and external structures- Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs to power-driven custodial equipment- Respond to emergencies/rescues by contacting appropriate staff and providing needed equipment- Assist with maintenance projects and make recommendations for purchases to management- Inspect assigned work areas, including analyzing field problems and developing proactive solutions- Greet customers, provide information, answer questions, and collect entry fees when needed; provide direction to volunteers or other work crews in manual labor tasks
Working Conditions- Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions, including temperatures over 100 degrees- This position requires partial weekends, some holidays, rotating shifts, and occasionally working nights- Must be able to work effectively and safely in a remote park setting- Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License or be able to obtain one by the time of hire- Subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
Selection ProcedureMust pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
