Since 2001, nordmedia has been shaping the expansion and development of the media industry in the two northern German states of Lower Saxony and Bremen as the central media funding institution.

It is based in Hanover and has a regional office in Bremen.

In the film and media funding department, the allocation of funding is structured, organized, and accompanied according to cultural and economic criteria.

nordmedia supports various stages of production for film, TV, and interactive media projects. But the funding spectrum also includes investments, training and consulting services, game funding, training measures, and festivals.

The accompanying services of the Film Commission strengthen the effects of the funding and increase the attractiveness of the locations for media professionals.

In addition to the two aforementioned states, the broadcasters NDR, Radio Bremen, and ZDF also contribute to the funding. This results in an annual funding volume of an average of 11 million euros through nordmedia.
