THE POSITION:


The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources has a need for a responsible person willing to work for Colonel Denning State Park Complex.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


This seasonal Park Resource Ranger position participates in a wide variety of public relations, safety, and service duties designed to protect visitors, facilities, and natural resources at the Colonel Denning State Park Complex.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with park visitors and special interest groups to help inform them about the park's facilities, rules, and history, as well as work in the park office to use our computer reservation system, sell park memorabilia, and complete necessary paperwork.


Other responsibilities include taking actions in emergency situations, including administering first aid, participating in fire prevention or suppression, and assisting search and rescue efforts.

You will also participate in additional safety measures such as inspecting park grounds, boundaries, and waters in order to ensure visitor safety and compliance with park rules and regulations.

Teamwork is essential as this position will cooperate with coworkers, as well as other commissions, bureaus, and agencies who also work to keep Colonel Denning State Park Complex safe and enjoyable.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • This is a seasonal, fulltime position with no benefits.
  • Work schedule will vary depending on operational needs.
  • Will work weekends, holidays, and all shifts as directed by Management.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:


  • You must possess an active motor vehicle license.
  • All employees must obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
